“Ian Paulin! One of our most consistent writers of original songs. Ian really knows how to work a crowd and to entice everyone into the tales he weaves.”

Steve Gadd - Tasmanian Apple Harvest Music Festival.

“Ian Paulin's voice provides a unique perspective on the world - that of the Tasmanian - and we hear far too little of that these days. Not that there's anything parochial about the lad - his message and music are as universal as the rain - for audiences who like passion with their politics, musings with their minstrelsy and humour in their habitat. Ian tells me he is considering restarting his singer-songwriter career - well yippee, hallelujah and about time I say!”

Judy Small - Folk Singer

“Listening to him, you won't be able to tell which excites you more: the depth of his lyrics or the lofty power of his music, which will find its way directly into your soul You will want more.”

Patrick Wirbeliet - Buxtehude Germany.

“Gifted and alluring . . . He sings and speaks with a sense of rational passion.”

Vin Maskell - The Age EG, Melbourne.

“Powerful and fun . . .”

Eastern Leader News Group.

“Subtle, dynamic, funny, profound or mystical, Ian combines a love of life and people, with music, poetry and story telling . . . an awesome display.”

Cygnet Folk Festival.

“Ian Paulin is a skilled writer and performer, at ease with small and large groups.  He is able to motive and inspire students.  He creates a safe and secure learning environment where students feel they can ‘take a risk’ and where real learning takes place.”

Anne Kostaras - Ogilive High School

“Ians’ programme has been well received by all clients who have been involved, this highlights Ians’ flexibility and innovation as many of the participants have not had any exposure to drama or improvisation…
… We look forward to a long collaboration with Ian. It will be of major benefit to the young people who are involved.”

Ruth Parsons - Parkside Foundation

“Ian has developed a very good rapport with all students from Kindergarten to grade 6. The teachers have been very positive about the outcomes Ian has achieved through his work with our students. The briefing & debriefing sessions he has run with our teachers, pre & post the program were also great and have been a worthwhile exercise to help ensure the program and/or ideas become embedded within teacher planning.”

The Magical - poem by ian paulin

“The Magical,” she says
Spun in thread of Holy Desire
And in that word
So breathed
Is The Beginning
The working of Divine Dreams
Universes come to be
But not in days
Six fluttering moves of startled lashes
Which gaze in wonder
Just before they close to rest in
The Magical

“The Magical,” she says
Folded inside arms
Under the web of sky, watched
I know magic
The soft sung spells calling
Upon the Light
Shadow
Both Loved
Lick the skin of the primal to awaken the Holy lust
The passion of the making
That sinks into eager flesh
To find its most sensual meeting
So that the Dividing may begin
The Creation ever making
So that you and I can touch and love
Whole separating to reach Whole
Knowing each other to be the ultimate One
The Magical

“The Magical,” she says
Lay upon living ether.
Lips brush Eternal
This is the other Magic
That caused the God of all people
To abandon Religion
For faith and power
Of mighty little dreams
Which atoms wish, yearn for
The song of angels and raindrops
In the first cry of every new born thing
As we yearn the milk of Divine knowing
We shall not hunger in the void
But feed and be fed
From the breast

The gentle brushing kiss
The flying steps
The dance of creation
We shall always know
We shall always be
The Magical
